Crock Pot Barbeque Sauce

This is nice because you can throw the stuff in and forget it, or make ahead.

2 8 ounce cans tomato sauce
1 large onion, finely chopped
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1 clove garlic, minced
1/3 cup Worcestershire
2 teaspoons chili powder
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon crushed dried red pepper

Combine 1 cup hot water and all ingredients in crockpot. Stir to blend. Cover and cook on LOW for 6 to 8 hours.

Experiment with balsamic or flavored vinegars, and ingredient amounts to taste.

Ridinspot, my mouth is watering reading about the crushed red pepper, chili powder, garlic, onions and vinegar. It sounds real good. I always lean toward the hot and spicy stuff.
Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try and let you know.

BTW...An Appaloosa is a fine animal. My dad used to have a couple and a Tennessee Walker in the pasture. Beautiful to watch and fun to ride.

I certainly think so. Alot of people will argue that point though. The saying goes something like, "The white man wasn't the only thing that killed the indians!"
Mine is a chestnut leopard, with Thouroughbred and warmblood in his pedigree. He is one of the most beautifully marked leopards I have seen. Even goes back to Man O' War. Sorry to go on so, but he was skinny and abused when I got him 2 years ago, and has come a long way. I am so proud of him. When will people learn that abuse NEVER trains a horse?!

Check him out at www.picturetrail.com Membername:RidinSpot
P.S.
I COVET that Roamer! :D

Re: HELP I need some barbeque sauce!!

here's my favorite. take a six pack of strong canadian beer. drink one beer. poor half a beer in sauce pan. marinate steak in beer for 30 minutes. while steak in marinating, drink other half of beer. now take out a package of back bacon. you'll get thirsty doing this so better have another beer. now take steak out of pan and wrap with bacon strips. use tooth picks to hold them on. try to cover the whole steak. when done have another beer. now put the bacon wrapped steak on the bbq. it's hot standing over that q so you'd better have another beer. now you only have 1 beer left so you'd better invite some friends over for steak... tell them to bring beer. all that telephone chat wll make you thirsty so go ahead and have that last brew.
by now your friends should have arrived with the beer so you'd better join them by helping yourslef to another beer! if you havn't passed out by now, go ahead and enjoy the back bacon wrapped bbq steak. yumm.

Re: HELP I need some barbeque sauce!!

Bob, have you tried soaking beaf or bison in a sauce containing or made mostly of jalapeno? This combination is really succulent and the jalepeno won't overwhelm the flavor of the meat (they really aren't as hot as they are reputed to be and probably not nearly as hot as some of the chili sauces in your cupboard). Ground ginger is very good with grilled meat as well. I guess I prefer a marinade over a "sauce" any day and usually make it up as I go along.
