I have a mercruiser 165 and I am replacing the trim motor with a new self contained unit. I hooked up everything except two blue wires that are connected to the rear trim bars. Not sure were to connect them. Please help

I hooked up everything except

Ayuh,....... Does it Work,..??

I believe those wires are the trim limit switch, if so, they go in the trim circuit, 'tween the thumb switch, 'n the solenoids on the pump,.....
The tilt switch, 'n circuit, by-passes it, 'n continues up into tilt,.....

Thanks a lot for your quick response. No it’s not working. Lol. I’m a rookie when it comes to trim wiring. What is 'tween the thumb switch, 'n the solenoids on the pump

That's the reverse lock out switch. Not required with this style pump. Chop the wires off at the switch (my pink crosses). Join the free ends together.

On the 3 button panel you have IN (bottom button), UP/OUT (middle button) and UP (top button).

At the moment the IN button should be working, and you should be able to get the drive to raise by pressing the middle and top buttons together. If you want the drive to go up with just the middle button, you need to connect the trim limit switch to the 2 wires I have circled. If the trim limit switch no longer works (at that age, most don't) then just connect a short jumper wire between the 2 wires I have circled. Just be aware that doing that will allow you to trim the drive all the way to full UP with just the middle button.

Here's the full circuit diagram.
