Hi everyone,

I changed my water pump several months ago and I recently took it out in the lake. When I got back I noticed that drive oil was leaking from my two weep holes on my outdrive. It was a very slow leak so I didn't think much of it until I noticeed a puddle of drive oil on my garage floor. I went to the MErc dealer and talked to a service writer who didin't seem to kow very much. He said that possiblyI did not change out a small o-ring in the out drive. When I dropped the lower end I noticed that indeed I did not, the o-ring was missing. Could this be the root of my problem????? How do I completely remove all the water form the lower unit? Is draining the oil from the outdrive sufficient enough??? Any ideas let me know please???? I'm heading to Lake Meade
on Thursday and I need to get this problem fixed.

Thanks,
Dan

Re: HELP HELP water in outdrive!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your outdrive probably only holds almost a quart of oil so drain it. Everything will come out at that time. Fix the O ring and put it all together. Fairly simple process. If you are concerned just drain the oil and change it again after you have run the boat a bit.

Bob
