Howdy, Wooly Bugger. I agree with your salesman, with one possible exception: that the 15 could get your boat on plane and the 9.9 couldn't. Then the 15 would be a lot faster.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

I agree with JB. A surplus of horsepower is much better than a lack of it. :)

WB,

If your boat's rated for it-go for the 15. Just because you have it doesn't mean you have to use it. The fifteen won't work as hard either.

WB, you should really like the 15. I owned a 1993 Honda 15, that I ran for a couple of years on a 14 Ft. Sea Nymph. The dealer then allowed me everything I paid ($1,900 back then) on a trade for a 1995 Honda 25hp.

Loved it (both of them). I told the salesman I would not buy the 15 unless he traded the factory 3 gallon tank with a 6 gallon tank. Big mistake. I would run the 15 sometimes for 16 hours straight, and NEVER used over 2 gallons of gas.

The 3 gallon will do fine, is my point. Actually, I never used of 3 gallons of gas for a single trip with the 25, I I took some looonnnggg trips with it too. Both got over 15 mpg on the 14 footer.
