the original owner just told me it may have been a crate engine, that he bought second hand in 2012.

the main thing I need to figure out is which water pump, and which power steering pump this will need, as the 'new' motor probably used the original accessories from the first 350 motor and they are shot

It appears to be a 5.7L of the 87 to 95 model year. Suggest using the links below for the PS pump and water pump numbers/

can I just order any aftermarket power steering pump for a 350 sbc ? (like from summit, or even canadiantire)

everything I am looking at costs 400$ or more here in canada.

also wondering what this component is on the front end of the engine.

Is it a secondary water pump?

research is telling me its a seawater pump, which I am assuming cools down the engine's freshwater/glycol coolant circuit.

Picture of what you are referring to?

If it's mounted on the crank shaft and has 2 hoses coming out of it, that's the raw water pump.

I am having trouble finding a power steering pump and water pump for this engine.

AllDodge has pointed me in the right direction, but I cannot determine why my PS pump looks different than the one in the diagram, can I just order a PS pump from any sbc 350 from the years 87-95?

solved.

bought a steering pump for a sbc. (1991 k-series pickup)
the return line fitting was the wrong shape and poked into the manifold so I hacked it off (don't get any metal shavings in the return tube!)

the tapered pulley didn't fit so I grinded-down a bit on the narrow end, and used a bfh (hammer) and forced them to mate.

I now have a replacement ps pump, only cost 60$
