I was just wondering if anyone has had a problem filling their boat up with gas. When I go to fill up my boat (1989 22' bowrider with 5.7 mercruiser) I have to fill VERY slow or it sprays back out around the filler at me. Could this be caused by a clogged vent hose or what. It takes me about 30-40 minutes to fill up. Any help with this problem I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Hi, and welcome :)
Yes, most likely cause is a blocked vent. What's the history of the boat? Has it been sitting around unused for some time? Critters like building their homes in the vent line. Check also to make sure the vent line does not have a downward loop in it that could hold gas. It can loop up, but not down.

yes

check the vent line for kinks or blockage - sometimes water from rain or wake spray can enter the vent line and cause blockage

Sometimes you have to push nozzle all the way down so nozzle rubber will cover around cap.thats what i did.it wouldnt pump right unless done like that.
