How's this for starting out on the right foot? I picked up twin Chrysler motors today, and I was told they were '81 model 35hp. I cannot find an ID plate on either one of them. Is there a secret to finding the darn things. I'm thinking that the plates may have been removed, but it's not obvious to me. Any help would be appreciated.

check near the carbs. Usually on the top of the motor leg on the starboard front side.

Re: Help finding model/ser # Chrysler

First off, thanks for the info on finding the ID plate. Now that I found the plates however, I discovered that these engines are not twins at all. One is a 35hp, and the other is a 30hp. They sure look alike, but the tags are as follows...1) Model# 307H9B, Ser.# 1866 2) Model# 357H8M, Ser.# 1163. My question is, does anyone know if most parts(or any parts)are interchangable? One has a lower unit, one does not. I was hoping to make one whole engine out of these. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Which one has the LU? Does the one without the LU still have the motor leg? My best guess from what you've said is that they should be interchangeable.

The 30hp has the lower unit intact. The 35 has the motor leg...just no lower unit. The 35 seems to be the better of the two, so I was hoping to piece that one together. Anyone know how to definitively find out what is and isn't interchangable?
