First and formost. Thanks for the help i have recieved from this forum. I am a newbie boater (long time angler). My first real fishing/boating day was great in Barnegat Bay.. No bites but they were around me as my fish finder stated.
Now I am anxious to know were i can land some nice Striped bass. I have a 16 ft F/G center console that i believe should be able to get into most areas.. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
PS My wife is also hooked on fishing ....... Hope to see you guys out there.

Re: Help find striped bass

Are you fishing freshwater up there in New Jersey?,
If so ...
Here in Texas I have the best luck fishing on 25'-30' ledges next to 50'-60' channels in the larger lakes. Use live shad, or bounce slabs on the ledges. Now this time of year they will surface occasionally in schools and a diver with a jig trailer is real good.
The main thing is they like moving water, I.E. channels. they usually suspend in 25'-30' of water.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!

If you're fishing barnegat bay with a 16 ft boat, best bet for stripers is oyster or double creek channel near the inlet. Lots of boat traffic on the weekends so anchor up on the sides of the channels. Not much action lately but fall things will pick back up on the bayside. Early in the year oyster creek is a good bet with the power plant holding warmer water. Good luck, see ya out there.
