HELP Evindrude 150 Ficht NIB

I know this sounds hard to believe but I have just found an Evinrude 150 Ficht that is new in the crate!!! Never been in the water.

I know that is both good and bad....but how bad can it be??

Anyone help??

What procedures should I take to have it checked and started????

Any info sure appreciated!

What year is it? If it is earlier than a 2001, I would pass on it.

FICHT motors prior to 2001 were termpermental at best and some were just plain bad.

OMC got most of the issues worked out for the 2000 model year and all of them were implemented by 2001. However, that is when OMC went out of business and BRP bought Evinrude.

Would you be buying this through a dealer? Will they be able to honor any warranty issues? Will they be able to perform recall that should/need to be done?

Thanks for the reply. It is a 2002 and it is a private party deal.

I'll be calling my local dealer tomorrow but wanted to find some info so I could ask him some decent questions.

Don't really think I can go wrong on it.

If it is a 2002, and is a good price, you could be getting a really nice motor.

If you don't mind me asking what is the asking price on this motor?

There are some recall items that should be done on a 2002.
