help determining the year and model of my 15hp evinrude

hello all,
i have recently been given a 15hp evinrude and a 14ft c-craft...the motor is older i can see that but im not sure what year i would like to get a manual or what not but i will need to find out the year...the serial number plate is there but you can not see any of the numbers or letters...i took the top off and found a number on a part..332162-3 and another part number was on the mount 330507d2 if anyone could help let me know thank u

Look closely at the top of the engine,You'll see a aluminum welch plug about 3/4 - 1 inch across,it will have the model number stamped in it.

where do i find this welch plug i am new to this mechanical do it yourself stuff..thank you for your help

This is my 84 9.9 and the plug is in the top right corner of the picture.

i found a silver circle and it had (R8284485) on it im thinking that was the right thing to look at..

From the photo of the tiller handle & kill button on the end, it would have to be made between 1987 & 1990.

I have a 15hp serial number R8525334 can any body help me with a year and model number the only other numbers i can find are stamped PB85 thanks
