I have a 1984 IL4 Merc 120HP, model I outdrive 1.98R. After about 2 hours of skiing, I started hearing a loud metallic clankity clank noise from the bell housing area or maybe just inside the transom. It comes and goes, and will disappear when the trim is changed. It doesn't occur at any particular trim or steering direction. In the driveway, it didn't matter if it was in gear or not. My guess is the u-joint somehow. Engine is very smooth.<br /><br />Any ideas, guys?
