my ski is a 2002 yamaha XLT 1200 with 75 hours.

im hoping it is a water/fuel problem but i'll let you decide. 2 days ago after filling up with 87 octane (i normally use that) i went out. as soon as i dropped it in the water it was BOGGY when i was just cruising, HOLDING BACK extremely. then when i PEGGED it, it would run strong. normal condition for running hard. so i park it when i reach my destination (to surf). then i get done and tow a few surfers to their boats (boat break) and i was running low RPMs while doing that obviously. then i get a EXHST beep (error sound thingy). so i stop the ski and restart and it goes away. then i head back to dock (full speeed most of the way- no problems when pegged). i get home, swap the plugs(they were wet and black), removed the fuel filter (to dry it out (no dirt inside) then put it back in with new plugs. seemed to run OK with the new plugs and hose water running through it at the house.

so i go out again today to do the same thing, and as soon as i take off it starts being boggy again, i was PISSED! then i haul *** out to the break. then on the way back i had to run slower than normal due to chop and that EXHST error came back and kept coming back. got home ran fresh water through it when i got home. ARRRRRRR!

help me man, i was thinking of filling up with 93 octane and seeing what that does.

OFF TOPIC question- how can i find out if the mixture (fuel/oil) is correct? sometimes (before all of these problems) it sounds CHOPPY when others are riding it(like its missing) but when i ride it, its perfect(no feeling like its missing)

thank you very much in advance for your expertise.
