So this is kind of a follow up I got spark to it by rebuilding the ignition system and am using a coil and ballast. w/ J4C plugs. Got it to fire and run slightly as it will run with key in start position but not in on position very well. I suspect I may have burnt the ballast resistor but need to know - I am using a ceramic one with a hole through the ceramic at the top for mounting I am reading 2.8 ohms of resistance should it be closer to 1.4 Ohms? Secondly, What should my points be gapped at with the change in the system. I left them gapped at .010 as per factory set but I am not sure this is right now that I have changed the system. Any ideas? She backfires bad which will kill the engine, I know not good. Reversing spring is in place. But hay closer than last wek at least I have spark. Also btw wants to idle at high speed- like 1200 or so. Not lower.
