Hi,

Took the boat out today with new thermostat. the problem still remains. After sitting for extended time motor will statrt but idle rough for about a minute before the idle returns to normal smooth. It has new thermostat, plugs and the carbies have been tuned and synched.

What controls the idle rpm and why does it fluctuate (drop) after being turned off for a while. Once running smoothly it idles around 1020 rpm and about 900 in gear.

Could it be the one way valve in the fuel pump draining the fuel in the hoses to the carbies, so when you start the motor there is no fuel to the carbies and it is replaced with air.

What else copuld it be??. This motor started first shor this morning and idled without a problem for over an hour. Pulled up to a snag and fished for a while and bingo rough idle when turned back on.

Any help please

Regards

Kellaig

Re: heat soak update

The fuel that is in the carb bowls won't siphon out. And there's plenty fuel in those bowls to get you running smooth at idle.
