Re: head gasket

You could also try here http://www.maxrules.com/. I just ordered the same exact part, haven't got it yet. Hopefully it'll be here on monday. The guy that runs that site also affiliates with a "Sea Way Marine" (I think is the name) out of Seattle, which is where the head gasket is actually coming from.

Re: head gasket

Is yours a U.S. Marine model? Just curious cause I own that same motor. Serial 3186. This motor is very easy to work on granted you can find the parts. HAve you had any troubles with it so far? Also if you are having compression problems in one or both cylinders check on the reeds. I just found mine to be gapped a little on the cylinder with low compression.

Re: head gasket

HI cerealkiller, I just got the boat about a month ago off ebay(1985 bayliner 50 US Marine Force)I could get the thing to start at a real fast idle(reeeel high)but wouldn't idel at a lower RPM.I did a compression test and had about 90psi on cyl 1 and 95 on 2.I rebuild fuil pump and cleaned system,no help ,so I went to check static timming when I noticed plugs looked wet affter sitting,I pulled head and silaconed @#$@$#% out of it and it runs great!!!! :p FIXIN

Re: head gasket

Good deal I'm just waiting on my head gasket and t-stat. I also have that same combo Bayliner/50hp Force. Mine is a 14 footer. I too just bought mine and blew the head gasket on the second time out on the lake  . I'm gonna replace a few gaskets and clean it up while I have the chance.

Does yours spit out gas from the carb at all?

Re: head gasket

I havn't noticed gas spitting out.it's got a laquery/slimy look even though I've cleaned it twice.I'm sure it's !#$% in the tank---I put some gumout cleaner in the tank but I work 80+ hours a week and havn't got A chance to play much :(

cereal killer. If you are leaking gas out of your carb it probably either needs the float adjusted or just rebuilt. My chrysler was leaking gas after the rebuild and then I found the float spec changed from 13/32 inch to 1/2 inch. After I adjusted that it stopped leaking and runs fine. Carb kits are 15 bucks from NAPA
