Fresh water motor or a salty.---I always re-use on fresh water motors.-----The tork is not very high ----Just clean them up.-----Clean / retap the threaded holes and re-install them.

Definitely want to resurface the head before bolting it up -- want to do that anyway, but think it might relieve stress on the bolts. Torque them down in stages using a circular pattern starting in the middle -- think the rule is two-stages for tightening, but maybe three or four would be better with used bolts. Just to be sure. Once more around after running the motor to temp.

All outboards heads will be warped to a degree.----If not corrected you will not get the correct and even squeeze on the gasket.----A portion of the torque value would be " lost " to straighten the head.

Because many of the "Top Secret" file links for helpful "how to's" no longer reflect the proper content, anyone willing to offer external links to recommended techniques they've seen for start-to-finish head servicing/gasket replacement on OMC motors?
