I have a 1994 150 hp Johnson Fast Strike that I purchased new in 1994. I don't remember if the head bolts were ever retorqed after the break-in period. I have no problems with the motor that I am aware of, but keep reading how important it is to retorque these bolts. If I now retorque them after 10 years, would I be causing a problem since the gasket has had so long to take a set? Should I just forget it and motor on down the water?

I haven't retorqued heads on a new engine for so long,I can't tell you.Got tired of finding no problem. When I replace a head gasket,I check.

Big engines don't seem to change,2 to 8 hp seem to a bit.

DHP
