Does anyone know where I can aquire a set (3) of recoil starter return springs for a 1947 HD25 Seahorse? These are the springs that return the metal pawls on the top of the flywheel.

Thanks for your help.

Make your own out of guitar strings or piano wire or what ever else you can think of. Once you figure out how to make them you will never have to look for them again. These springs do exist, usually when you find them they cost too much.

Re: HD25 Recoil Starter Springs

Sorry to revive an old thread
but i am rebuild an HD25 right now
and don't seem to have these springs either
could someone please take a picture and post it so i can see what they look like ?
mine never had them
and my service manual, talks about the system being set up backwards to mine
Dog gears on top, pawl on motor
and obviously, mine is backwards to that

thanks !

I have the parts manual for the HD25 if you want it PM me your email address and request.

It does not show the springs very well though.

They are expensive. I found similar springs at my true-value hdwr, but they were too long. I cut 'em down and re-bent the end and they work fine..

Good deal. I have an HD-20 (1941) and I need those springs too.
