Has anyone used this setup with success?

I am asking because I just purchased one (price was right) to replace a malfunctioning depth sounder and replace the existing through hull transducer.

When I received it, I realized the transducer comes in 3 versions - 0 degree, 12 degree, and 20 degree. Hawkeye only sells the 0 degree. They claim it will work fine on my 12 degree hull, producing only slight differences in depth at deeper levels and negligible in shallows. Airmar says it will not work properly on my hull and I should use the 12 degree tilted transducer.

Anyone out there use the Hawkeye supplied 0 degree on their boat with success even though there is an angle?

Thank you in advance,
Chris

Hawkeye is junk. Installed one on my Seadoo and it would work for a few days, week max and need another one. I'm not a speed demon, like slow cruising a smooth days. Replaced it 3 times before I told Hawkeye to forget it. They were willing to send me another but I passed

The 0* will be off 12* its simple as that. The deeper the water the further away it will read. Under 20ft might not worry to much

Will it still get a return and reading? That's primarily what I'd be using it for - beaching, so under 20ft is where it's important to me.
