I'm trying to remove the bottom part of the motor to change the water pump and I'm having problems removing it. The motor is a yamaha 225 saltwater series fuel injected.I made sure to remove all bolts but I still can't get it off. The back end closest to the boat is where my problem is; Im able to loosen the front about 1/4 inch. Not sure the last time it was removed. I tried tapping with rubber mallet and wiggling the best I could. Any advice or tips on removing it? Thank you

Have you disconnected the gear shift rod that runs up the middle?

Sorry been away from my pc for a bit, if you have not found it yet try following the linkages from the outside of the motor where the gear shift cable joins up, also get someone to help you, I think the leg will be fairly heavy.

Thier should be a bolt going from top of the motor in towards the bottom. Lift up your tilt and locate the anode it is round and should have a little triangle by this time it should be witish and all corroded it is thier to protect your motor from salt it is a metal that is used to corrode itselfe instead of letting your engine corrode. Thier should be a bolt holding it and it should be accesible through the top dirrectly on top of the anode it is also used to help correct steering pull
