Hi I am new and just bought my first boat. I have a 1990 17 ft regal valanti bowrider with a 4.3 volvo penta motor and a dp outdrive. My trim will go down but will not come up unless some one is helping it up manually. I believe I have a leak but I want to check the fluid in it to make sure. Where and how would I check that fluid. I have no owners manual. Any and all help is appreciated thank you.

How about a full model number, or serial number of your engine. Year and 4.3L duoprop doesn't tell us much.

It is a 430A serial number 4100126738

Sorry for not including that in my first post

With the drive all the way down, remove the plug out of the trim pump and check the oil. That is also where you fill it.
It can be either engine oil or ATF, check the color, you don't want to mix the two types.

From all the other stuff I read it said to have it all the way up so that must be why I couldn't find out where to check it. Do I need
put wood under it to keep it from hitting the ground And also if iI find that there is a leak how hard is it to fix the commen leak for it.

There isn't a "common leak", and how hard it is to fix depends on what is leaking.

You need the drive all the way down, it won't hurt it if it touches the ground, so no you don't need a board under it.
