I have a 24 volt gator mount Evinrude trolling motor on my 1989 Skeeter and am thinking it probably is the orignal that came on the boat. The trolling motor works great except when going forward on the highest setting the motor shaft shoots up too high at an angle as it broke free with the prop barely in the water and will stay stuck until I turn the head with foot control and give it power going in reverse. The motor has three speeds and will sometimes do it on the second setting, but this problem arises everytime while on max power. I have looked at the thing and just cant figure out why this is happening. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff

If this is a "breakaway" mount, the tension apparently needs to be set tighter. If it's not a breakaway mount, something in the mount is apparently broken. Without some pictures we can't help you.
