For the last few years I have been contracting in the telecom field and would like to know what kind of issues you have faced over the years.

Have you had to diversify at all from your core business??

Dealing with the old boy network types.

Words of wisdom?

Wow bubba what your saying is very true. Even if your not a contractor what your saying can still be applied to any thing from a McDonald's server to a top executive in any company.

Thanks Bubba!

Really great points there, I have a few questions, but think it would be best to do them in a PM fashion.

Never sell your "ideas" only your "product": Always be 100% transparent: Know that the majority of those making the decisions, more than likely know less than you're giving them credit for: Rely on self-ALWAYS: Never forget that the 'fish', stinks from the head down.

I think we're all "contractors" in a way, whether we're hourly employees at a factory or building sky-rise apartment buildings. Our loyalty should always be to our reputation because it's the one and only thing that's permanent.

I did all sorts of contracting, IT/hardware, AS400, you name it, but got a regular job via contract - business can be VERY good, always good money IF you can keep it flowing w/ regular deals, but I found I wanted a regular job, for the bennies, health ins. for kids etc.
I also did home improvements for a few months, amazing money, always cash, yet many flaky folks out there.
Def. be diversified, always helps, and yes written and signed contracts! :)
Good luck!
