Have vibration at idle

I have a 22ft webcraft ski boat with a 260 mercruiser and a tr outdrive, boat runs good on plane and wide open but only when going straight, if i turn or slow down to an idle i have a heavy vibration, im not sure what it is, i though that the u joints maybe going out, but was wondering if anyone knows a way to test the joints and the gimbal bearing with out pulling the drive off? If thats what it is???

Pulling your outdrive is part of regular maintenance and should be done seasonally.
