have serial # what is the year? Need some help please...

ok it is 6399924 now in some sights I have looked in dont even have this #. And other sights tell me I need one more #...........its a 3cyl / 2cycle 90hp. can somebody help please? Is there another place where a serial # can be, besides the obvious one right in your face? It also says power trim on it...............

That serial number comes up in Merc as a 1983 90ELPT
BUT, it's for a 6 cylinder motor. Has 3 Carbs, but 6 spark plugs.

You might look around on the top and sides of the engine block for what looks like a freeze plug about an inch in diameter, the SN of the engine was stamped in the plug on some engines.

yes it does have six plugs and three carbs. I got the 3cly and the 2cycle #'s off of the upper switch and the lower switch. So if I may ask where did you find out what type of motor?

The 6 spark plugs indicates 6 cylinder.

I got the 3cly and the 2cycle #'s off of the upper switch and the lower switch.

Assuming you are talking about the switch boxes for the ignition, they are designed to work on 3 cylinders each. That is why there are 2 switch boxes.

So if I may ask where did you find out what type of motor?

I'm a tech for a Merc dealer, and used the Merc dealer site.

Hey Rich,

I for one would prefer that you ask him here....so we all can benefit from his expertise. That's one of the purposes of a board like this....learning from each other. Many of the pros who give their time here were once like you and me...needing answers. Someone helped them then...and they are graciously here now to help others.
