Have No Forward or reverse

Sorry if this horse has been beat to death. I have a 1981 mercury 150 serial no. 6424308 just replaced the waterpump and thermostats, put it back together pumps water fine but no forward or reverse did the repair on the pump with the boat in neutral. I have a Seloc manuel just about as worthless as tits on a snake, did I completly miss the alighnment on the shifter or did I mess something else up. Thanks in advance for the help, this is a great forum.

Well for starters, did you reconnect the shift rod back up...correctly...? You had to disconnect it to pull the LU to replace the impellor... Did you remove any other bolts on the lower foot section?

Didnt have to disconnect it, its a splined shaft just slides in

Do not apply excessive grease to drive
shaft splines; there must not be grease
on tops of drive shaft or shift shaft. Shift
lower unit to forward gear and move
guide block anchor pin on engine to forward
gear position.
