I have a 1962 gale sovereign long shaft. i need to get the short lower unit for it. i found a junk yard near me that has the johnson motor that is the same part. the person running counter didn't want to give me a price for he did not know what it was worth. the kid said that the motor is still good but looks like it has been there a long time considering the tree that is going in the boat that it is on. what should i look for to give for the lower. if they are not willing to part it what would be a fair price for the motor. I wish i had more info on the motor but didnt have something to write the model on s/n number down with. it looks exactly like my motor except a little different on the fuel pump and filter and of course the cosmetics. its 2 cyclinder probably around 30 - 40hp range.
