Haut Medoc and other 888 owners

Below is a picture of an exhaust boot I got for my '76 888. This is the same profile that is shown several times in my period correct factory manual.

However, my recollection of the boot profile on my boat does not agree with this. When I winterized my boat and noticed a leaking boot, I could have sworn that it was bell shaped (don't remember up or down) whereas the boot had two different opening sizes, the largest rapidly belling down to the smallest.

As my boat is across town and under wraps I cannot quickly take a look.

What years of 888's do you all have and does this look like the proper boot. I just got them off ebay and they were claimed to be off of a '74 or '75 888.

I wanna say it looks right....
I haven't done my risers yet, but.....
I want to say they go from 3" at the top to 4" at the bottom....
If it ever stops raining I'll go look......:/......JK

What year is yours Haut? Both ends on the picture above are the same diameter, but what you describe sounds more like my recollection.

I want to say that some of the after market stuff may be 3 at the top & 4 at the bottom....
I bought replacement risers for my rig last year, but didn't use them....
OEM could be 4X4.....:devil:
I'll look & let you know.....
I'll have to go to center rise on the 351 anyway....
I'll post up some pics when I have a handle on it......JK

Boom, there are definately 3" tops & 4" bottoms.....
& 4x4's too
