Re: Hats off to Admin 5
What is this stuff Sloopy aka Sailboaty? I was trying to show my appreaciation for this forum. And what I get is a topic full of fiddle playing crickets? None which will allow me to catch fish. However I have a 15 year old and he seems to think that you can do whatever you want to also. You can as long as it doen't bother other people. But in this world we have rules and we all have to follow rules, no matter how young or old. Movies and video games are just that, movies and video games. There they or you can do whatever you want because it doesn't harm anyone. But in this real world you can't do what you want, you can't do what they do in the movies and video games.

You like my son needs to learn when it is the right time to be a smart butt and when not to be a smart butt.

I use this board to meet people, get information, and pass on stuff that I may know. I believe that and been taught by my father this "It is a small world and you need as many friends that you can get, but an enemy is not going to help you when you need the help, only true friends will.

Example: This last couple of days, a young guy with his girlfriend just launched her uncles boat. Boat hadn't been in the water since last fall. They didn't test run it or nothing. From barn to the water. And we all know here at the forum, you just don't do that, but however he doen't know about this website. Now he knows now since I told him about it. He was a complete stranger to me, never ever saw him before.

After they launced the boat (Bayliner), they found out that the battery wouldn't crank the motor. So they were using their Paddles. Since my boat is at the end dock they had to go around mine. That is when we first saw them. They were out of breath so I offered them to tie up to the side of my boat. They said fine, then I asked them what was wrong. They said the battery was dead. So I reached down in my battery compartment and let him use my spare battery to get to their slip. He thanked us, hooked the battery up and of cousrse the dang on thing wouldn't start. I told him since it was dark now, get your boat to the slip and check it out in the morning. But anyway he ended up using the battery all weekend after we got it running the next morning. He offered to pay me for the use of the battery, but I told him that all I ask of him was to help someone else out that may need help. He just was tickled to death because his weekend wasn't ruined.

So Sloopy, I'm not mad at you, just somewhat annoyed, but like all of us, you will learn as your life goes on.
