Has anybody here ever owned a "Sun Dolphin Pro 120" boat?

Hello all;
I have an opportunity to purchase one of these boats on a custom trailer for about $350.00. It's in great shape.
Yes, I know it's only 12' long 5' wide but, since I fish 90% of the time by myself & the other 9% with my 10 year old daughter (1% with my excuse-laden buddies) I was thinking this boat maybe ideal. I fish mostly very small lakes & a local river that runs one minute at 4-5ft deep & 5 inches the next. Any opinions or relevant observations (pros & cons) would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Howdy,

I actually just sold a KL Industries American 12 and I loved it. It was very light, tough and pretty stable considering the size. The one you're looking at is just a loaded version of the one I had and I think it'll work fine for what you described. I used mine on some pretty large electric only reservoirs in MD and I never felt uncomfortable at any time, even in some decent wind. If it's in good shape I'd jump on it for that price, just check it out good and make sure you put it in the water before you buy it to check for leaks.

Perfect boat if you have the right water to use it in. Great for impromptu fishing trips.......... only comment...... when casting just do not hook each other ;) Pretty close together.

$350 for a boat and a trailer is a nice deal. Check the plastic for cracks since it requires special plastic repair products..... look for holes worn it in or thin spots which may need to be built up.

The local walwart here sells them new for around $1200 without the trailer. If you can pick it up for $350 and it's in decent shape, I say jump on it. It probably won't last long, just make sure to check it out real good.

Thanks for the replies. How does it handle 1'-2' waves, boat wakes? Standing up & casting, rocky?

Personally, I've never been in one, but I'm sure it would handle waves and wake better than a 12' jon boat. I believe they are a little wider than a standard jon and have somewhat of a point on the bow. That alone would alllow it handle better than a flatbottom.
