Hello,

I'm in the market for a 22-24' deck boat and have been presented with a 2004 Harris Kayot S230. Haven't actually put my eyes on it, only seen photos. I've head of the brand but only in relation to pontoons. I've done a lot of internet searching tonight and cannot locate any useful information on Harris Kayot quality.

Can anyone characterize Harris Kayot amid other boat brands, particularly Chaparral, Regal, Crownline and Sea Ray, which is what I've been looking at thus far? Also, if anyone know how easy or hard it would be to get replacement parts for it, that'd be great.

Thank you.
Toni

Take a look at Hurricane Deck boats. Rented one while on vacation in Florida and I was really impressed.

So almost immediately when you step onto any particular brand or model of glass boat, you can pick up the cues as to the build quality, the accessory quality, the thoughtfulness of the layout and what they did or didn't cut out at any particular price point. Go take a look at it and discern. I have to say I've never ever seen a Harris Kayot bowrider and I see tons of boat on my lake. I've only seen old, beat up Kayot pontoons but the pics on the internet of Kayot bowriders look like nicely appointed boats.

Yeah, I can look at it and come to a conclusion. I'm also worried about parts for it.

And also that I can't find any real reviews of them on the internet. Not sure if that means they're decent because nobody says anything bad about them or what.

My Neighbor has a Kayot runabout that is beautifully constructed. He seems to think the hull comes from a Chriscraft mould. It's 20'er and has a Volvo duoprop drive. Real nice sturdy seating, guages, layout etc. I recall he thought they had stopped making fiberglass boats around the time his was built. Probably 2005 or 2007.

For fun I was checking a new, several year old leftover, Campione bowrider at my local marina because it was only 19 feet with a 350 MAG in it. It was I think a 2007 or 2008 that never sold. Had never really heard of them before and there was very little on the internet about them and the dealer had stopped carrying the brand. They cut some corners but seemed like an overall nice Canadian made boat with a big v8 for the LOA. Point being, the engines are all the same and boat manufactures unlike cars quickly quit producing OEM parts anyway no matter what brand you buy.

I needed a new windshield for my sig boat from a storm that came through and damaged it. To get it we had to go to the OEM windshield manufacturer and have them retool their production line to manufacture a single unit for me. You don't even want to know how much that cost. It is what it is.

No, I DO want to know how much that cost. Feel free to PM me if you'd prefer. I am in the plastic industry and a company we do wokr with ocassionally does a boat window. Some are on large/expensive boats. (our guys won't touch them) For your Chap, I'd think (in plexiglass) you'd be looking at around $500. Little more if you needed bot curved panels.

The cost for the windshield (the entire wrap around unit with side windows and stainless edging and snaps including the install/removal of the old unit is $10,300. I am trying to set a time to go pick it up still and then I will see the break out of the materials and labor but I am told the windshield itself is the majority of the cost.

Apparently, this is a really difficult job and only two places in the state are capable of the repair. We shall see how this plays out.
