Hello All,<br />It's been a while. I have a 1988 40hp Johnson, and sometimes it will fire right up and some times it takes it a while ( 3-4 min. 
). The motor is rebuilt with less than 30 hrs. on it. Carbs are clean, good compression, spark jumps half an inch, fuel pump pumps really well. <br /><br />I do put 3oz. of oil to every gallon of gas (2.6 is recommended). Would over oiling cause this.
