I have had this problem for awhile now and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts. I have a 2000 Yamaha 115 hp 2 stroke carbed. It has always been hard starting. Pump bulb hard, choke and turn over with nothing. Leave choke off and turn over for ever and it will finally start. Once started it runs perfectly. Barely hit the key and it’s running all day without ever missing a beat. Thought maybe bad coils but have a very nice spark jumps on all coils even when cold.
Thought I would try something so today I took off the carb cover, pumped up the bulb, shot a little gas in each carb chamber, and locked the chokes in closed position. Turned the cold motor over for about 2 seconds and it popped right off.
So I’m assuming a carb problem but have no idea if it’s an air/fuel adjustment or float adjustment or something else. I may be better off bringing it to a mechanic as I do not want to mess up this motor, it runs too good after it starts. Anyway thanks in advance.
