In tribute to all Daddys, Dads, Pas, Papas, Fathers, Grampas, Grandfathers, and Gramps....

When we are little, you are so big, you are the rulers of our kingdom, the masters of our fate, the navigators of our future, the models for our lives, the protectors of our steps, the guide of our souls, and the hero of all the stories ever told.

When we are in our youth, you are so fun, you are the ticket to the games, the driver to the park, the coach of all our teams, the date of all us daughters, the companion for all our movies, the repairer of the furniture & windows (broken by us), the teller of all the stories (we have heard a thousand times before, but still love to hear).

When we are in our teens, you are still big, but we think your vision is so small. You are the alligators in our moat, the lock upon our doors, the keeper of the keys, the giver of restrictions and punishments, the blocker of the calls, the barrier to our freedom, and the one we know more than.

When we are young adults, we look you in the eye and we say, let go. You are the face in the rearview mirror, the one we call for money, the one whose birthday we forget, the one we seldom have time for, the one who waits for news, the one who prays for our safety, and the one who's opinion isn't needed.

When we have reached maturity, we realize how big you really are. We know now that everything you told us, was told with words of love. We know that all those nights of worry, weren't because you didn't want us to have fun, but because you wanted us to be safe. Your opinions now are sought, your thoughts are valued, your effort is wanted, your energy is admired, your struggles are validated, your faith is proven, and we want to be like you.

When we lose our father, we know what true loss feels like, because we know now, that a man does not have to be large in stature, to be big in heart. We know what a father is supposed to be like, because ours was the best there's ever been.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY ! :)
