Re: Happy Anniversary 10 Years on iboats!!!!!
Seems like a lot more than ten. It was a lot different. . . all sorts of posts were common that are not allowed anymore. Fights about religion, politics, social issues were common. All sorts of personal insults and personal bashing, the foulest of language. Bush bashing was a favorite sport.
With only a few more than a thousand members most of the tech help was supplied by a few people who were not as expert as our current crew on average nor nearly as quick in replying. Some of the best of those old timers are still around and still helping out. I would name a bunch, but I would surely forget someone who helped build this place and I wouldn't want to do that.
Today this is the most civilized forum on the net. We have well over a quarter million members including some of the best tech helpers in the world. I only post in the tech sections now and then because better help has usually been there before me.
I expect the forum to continue to grow horizontally as well as vertically with the different fora being divided to give those seeking help more choices to find exactly the help they need.
I doubt that I will be around in another ten. I have had health problems and the Doc forbids me to spend 6-8 hours at a time sitting in this chair like I did then, but I will be around as long as I am able. 75 feels a lot older than 65 did.
Thanks to all for the good wishes. This place gives me the opportunity to feel useful, which I think is critical for old guys.
