Half closed loop system question

Hi all, I'm doing a 5.7 repower and would like to install a half closed loop system as I plan to use the boat in salt/brackish as well as in fresh water. I've been told to use the belt driven sea water pump to cool the heat exchanger; others say that the Alpha 1 Gen2 water pump is sufficient - who to believe? Would think since I'm not cooling the manifolds with the exchanger that it would be ok.

I guess the efficiency/size of the heat exchanger will also govern how well it cools with a given amount of seawater flow ... Thanks for any clarification!

If I were me, I'd consider a full closed cooling system, if you can get one. But then you'd need the sea water pump.
