Re: Hailing QC

Thanks. Will give a read. Just got back from 5 days on the water. Did some night boating and I was paying attention to all of the configurations. Some are way worse than mine as far as distance between the two bowlights coupled with an offset stern light . . .

Re: Hailing QC

If we had sat together over the last five days, we could've counted at least 200 boats that do not meet that standard. Mostly customs, but some production boats built from the East too. I am now seeing a lot of production "deckboats" with the seperate bow lights, below the rub rail along with an offset stern light.

Also, as I mentioned in the previous thread, lots with no way to isolate the "anchor" light from the bow lights. There is definitely ignorance too as boats at anchor for fireworks ran all three lights even when they could switch the bow lights off.

Interesting thing I am noticing is that the 20 year old customs have proper stern, masthead and bowlights. So apparently this is a lost art . . . :(

I really like this comment,

"This is a dangerous trend which is likely to end up costing somebody a pile of money when a plaintiff's attorneys go after everyone who might have been for liable for a serious collision."

Hope ya had a good 5 days. the weather here has been kinda wet (finally).

BTW, I finally got my other engine in and it turns out that the first one I got was an 05 model, and the second is an 06. Lots of differences. Boy am I pizzed.

Re: Hailing QC

Good trip, but weather definitely played a role. We got a monster thunderstorm early the morning of the 4th at Lake Mead. We were off the water and it knocked out the hotel power, I actually watched lightning hit the flagpole :^ Then we headed south, to get slammed again while we were at Havasu. Managed to get into a slip and ride it out at a thatched roof bar . . . everybody got soaked, fun though. The storm passed just in time for fireworks.

Yeah, that comment you noted struck me as well.

The engine thing sucks . . . :|
