Good morning!!!!<br />No mackerel at the moment!!!<br />River herring [Alewifes] are starting to show up!!<br />The regular herring do not show up close to shore.<br />The herring boats are down off New York and Jersey.<br />The Mackerel should be showing up around the 1st of May.<br /><br />Cod fishing on the party boats is slow at this time.<br />Commercial fishing for cod inshore which is from shore to 30 miles out is closed as of April 1st. The nets will be out of the water till July 1st. which is good for chartering. The cod have a chance to come back to there local haunts with out being scooped up.
