Had surgery on my right shoulder on Friday 6-11. Now I'm not the kind of guy that can sit still for very long. Always gotta be doin somthin. Well, monday morning I managed to respool all my reels. Got all my guns (kinda) cleaned. Puttzed around in the garage and got things straightend up a bit. Then it hit me. I can launch and retrieve my boat with one hand. Well I pulled her to the lake and launched with NO PROBLEM. Went out and dropped anchor with NO PROBLEM. Caught some fish. All is good in the world. Now it's time to go home. Ever try to pull a fluted 20# anchor out of the mud with one hand? PROBLEM! After about 15 minutes of struggling and a lot of choice words, mission accomplished. Got back to the landing and backed the trailer in, got the boat lined up. Time to winch her on the trailer. BIG PROBLEM! Can't get the trailer in deep enough to "float" the boat on, can't crank the winch with one hand. I figured I would be a bit slow so I picked a landing that does't get a lot of traffic. Wound up sitting there like a little kid that lost his puppy for 2 hours and 45 minutes untill a resident that lives by the landing came over to see if everything was OK. After explaining my situation, this kind lady of about 70 got me loaded up and on my way. When I got home I had to explain to my wife why I tried something that stupid in the first place. Of course she almost wore the meat off her finger tips calling everybody that knows us to explain my stupidity and that if not for WOMAN POWER, I could very well still be sitting ther looking for my puppy. Next time I won't go alone and you can bet your last dollar another MAN will be with me.
