this is my first post as I just found this site, I have been reading for a while, but now I need to ask for advice.

Yesterday I had a small engine fire, it looks to be electrical in nature...some backround....just traveling down the river and we noticed a drop in power, then it cut out, a strong electrical small and noticed some white smoke comming under the cowling, then a small flame near the fuel line, I yanked the fuel line and had to hit it once with the fire ext.....after I got home I opened the cowling to see what you see here, a lot of melted wires, but its really hard to see where the fire/burning started ????
The only issue I had prior to this was the button on the trim ( on the engine ) was sticking a little and not going up unless you pressed it kinda hard.

Besides taking it to a mechanic....what else can I do from here ??

thanks Mark

That engine needs to go to a dealerships shop to find out if it's a problem that more owners are about to have or just a fluke.

Call the insurance company.

That's gotta cost a bunch.

no insurance unfortunately, I paid cash for the boat 6 months ago, the motor is a 2001 bigfoot 60........hobbs has about 1000 hours on it, ( not sure if correct ? ) it was previously a rental boat for a nearby marina.......anyone wanna give me a window on the repairs...I'll have to wait till after the holiday weekend to get it to a shop
