A while back my dad and I were on a fishing trip to northern Wisconsin, with my best friend, and his dad. On our first night out on the this quiet little lake, fishing in little 14 foot deep-v's with 9.9 mercs on the back, my dad went over the side. As we were fishing my dad caught a nice crappie and he turned around to handed to my buddy's dad that had the basket. In the process of doing so my dad's chair popped off of the bench it was clamped to and in he went. His life jacket of course popped him right back up, and he said "I'm okay! Didn't lose a thing!" My dad was still had the fish by the lip and didn't let go. Of course my buddy and me in the boat next to them couldn't help but die laughing. The worst part about it is the boats are so small my dad was afraid of tipping the boat he had to hold onto the front of the bow, while the trolled into the campsite. Great way to start to trip!

Great story. Some of my best memories were fishing with my brother and my dad. Some of the other ones were low threat boating mishaps where one of us or another wound up in the drink while the others all laughed.

Ain't that the truth. Glad all worked out for everybody. My Dad and his friends aren't that smart. Since we are talking about Dad's and the drink I have one to share.

Dad is not a boater...His friends not much either. They were on the Ohio River in one of his buds new 30something Scarab. They were having a few coctails. Dad's gotta pee. He goes to the swimplatform. Upon releaving himself the "station waggon effect" took over and Dad's legs were getting a little splattered. He instructed the captain to give her some more throttle. The captain did....way too much....too quick. Well you know the rest of the story.

Thanks for sharing, jamerson, you brought back a childhood memory I forgot about. Sorry for the hijack.....carry on!

i can relate to the stuff going everywhere in the boat when fish come on board.last year we were up north fishing for musky and my friend hooked into a biggin',after all the commotion of landing the fish 42 incher pictures and release we realized that some things were missing in the boat. my friends rod was overboard thankful that it floated and a whole tray of lures was floating along side of the boat.funny part about it was we had gone over all the procedures to bring in and release the fish time and time again so we would be prepared. i guess when 42 inches of musky starts floppin' around anything goes.

I'm a simple London boy........what on earth is "The Station Wagon Effect"

There is an air pocket behind a Station Wagon and when you are peeing the circulating air gets you wet.

I thought the station wagon effect was when you stared too long out the back glass for hours on the highway, ...........and when you stopped, it looked like everything was rushing towards you;)
