I have 2001 Yamaha F100 four stroke that I don’t get to run frequently enough. The carbs are clogging/gumming up a good bit. In addition to running the engine more frequently, any tips or advice on keeping the carburetors clean? Fuel additives? Any way to spray carb cleaner in without substantial disassembly?

As a side note, do electronic fuel injection four-strokes have clogged injector problems similar to clogged carbs?

Thanks for any info.

Try to install an intermediate fuel line cut off. Run the motor untill it shuts off due to lack of fuel. This should keep the fuel from staying in the carbs and gumming up. Adding crap to the fuel tends to just make things worse. Not sure about a quick clean, but using started fluid helped me when cleaning. Also, keep a can of air (like that stuff for computers) as well. Use it to blow the carbs (jets) out after you use the cleing crap. Make sure you pull the jets when cleaning. Just doing the outside will not help.

IF YOU DO NOT LEARN ANYTHING TODAY, YOU SHOULD HAVE STAYED IN BED.
