FL CAPTAINS REPORT -
2/20/2005 6:05:00 PM
Capt. Rich reports good fishing this weekend, once the weather and sea’s subsided on Saturday afternoon. The Grouper bite was strong in 150’ of water with Black and Red Grouper to 25lbs. The Mangrove Snappers also cooperated Saturday night on the ledges in 80’ – 90’ of water. The Amberjack bite was a little slow with the passengers catching about 55 AJ’s up to 35lbs. Again this weekend, we released over 100 American Red Snappers; the largest approx. 15lbs. The jackpot winners were Bud Roche, Ft. Myers, FL, with a Gag Grouper of 24.5lbs. George O’Hannes dominated the Snapper pool with a Mangrove Snapper just over 10 lbs. Tony Muia had the two largest Amberjacks going just under 35lbs each. Check out the website for info on the newly scheduled Special American Red Snapper Trip on April 20th.
Capt. Rich reports that their Sunday night Snapper Special trip was successful, with a good catch of Mangrove Snappers up to 4lbs and Gag Grouper up to 15 lbs, with many shorts released. The trip got extended by an hour and a half due to the water temp being very cold, they ran another 20 miles offshore. The Snapper pool winners were Ralph Whitecotton taking 1st place with a 4.1 lb. Mangrove Snapper and Bobby Mitchell taking 2nd place with a 3.5lb Mangrove Snapper. Our next Sunday night trip is on Feb. 27th, it is a full moon weekend, we anticipate good Snapper fishing.
