Guage Wiring

Well all, I'm to the point of wiring the project boat. The guages that I took out, they weren't hooked up, appear to be in great condition. I'd like to reuse them. The wiring harness appears to be in good shape too.<br /><br />Some guages, I'm not sure about. No sweat on volt, fuel, H2O press.<br /><br />1. Tach. <br /><br /> Which pole should it be on? The engine is a 1983 Evinrude 90 hp. The terminal I'm not sure about is the terminal labeled "PUL". Which wire should go to this? I have the original harness that plugs into the back of the control box. (one green, one black, one grey, wire)<br /><br />2. Trim<br /><br />There are three terminals labeled "I", "G", "S"<br /><br />Where would these leads come from? I'm assuminng from the sender, however, that seems to be wired into the trim/tilt control box. The Clymer manual is a little "fuzzy" on this.<br /><br />BTW, the guages are original OMC with black faces and red back lighting.<br /><br />Thanks.

Howdy djohn19,<br />I=ignition<br />G=ground=black<br />S=sender=gray=rectifier=gray&yellow<br />I'm not sure about the "PUL" but it stands to reason, it should be the light.<br /><br />Hope this helps.<br /><br />c/6<br /><br />Hooty

Re: Guage Wiring

The PUL on the tach is same as S sender, which is the gray wire, black is ground, check the green wire for voltage with key on engine off. If the green is hot switched,it goes to I termial, and should be purple not green. I think the switch on rear of tach should be on 6. The trim guage is I ignition, G ground, S sender. I not sure where the wires come from for the trim guage, but the I ignition, purple wire should come from switch. You need one more wire for the lights which comes from the light switch.
