Today I notice smoke coming from my rectifier. Later it caught fire.I was able to put the fire out with out any real damage excepted to the rectifier.This motor is a 1990 model Johnson GT150.I have already took the rectifier off the motor it is brunt toast now.I am looking for more good advice.<br /><br />Thank You

i would replace rectifer & get a service manual & check out stator,look to stator does it look overheated or burn't.check battery connections no wing nuts,star washers & nylock nuts..

The stator got a little black on it from the rectifier burning. I dont think stator is hurt though. <br />Thank You for your help.

I think I know whats happening, I had my motor battery go dead out on the lake and then hook it up to my trolling motor batteries hooking into 24volts I would have to think this is my problem.
