grumman canoe 19' freighter

I am having trouble finding a serial number on this canoe . Front plate reads 634_G-19S . There is numbers on top of side rails that read
458M03964ZA1 other side has IAZ46930M85A to have been stamped into top of rail all the way at aft end of canoe . Any help would be great.

IAZ46930M85A is the important number for registration purposes is that's what your question is about. IAZ beginning of the HIN says Iowa issued the HIN.

Older then 1972 if Iowa had to issue the HIN

Sounds about right I was told from gentleman I bought it from he got it from a gentleman who received it in a will and that it hung in barn for long time.in process of replacing some rivets and almost done polishing it looks great so far has plenty of scrapes and dings .canoe with charcter

Darn - Didn't hold my screen up to a mirror. LOL

That is a good point. When I had a state issued HIN assigned, The DNR ranger placed a sticker on the stern and another under the closed bow, He said the HIN should be in two places. Maybe the stamper was dyslexic and needed glasses. :noidea:

Thanks every one for you input .was very helpful I have looked every where on canoe and the numbers on top of side rails are only visible one I can find .
