grounding during compression testing

Would clamping a jumper cable to the spark plug and then clamping the other end to an engine bolt be an effective way to ground the coil during compression testing?

No need to worry about grounding ignition on a 66 motor.

I have repaired these motors for many years.--Never had to worry about grounding the plugs.---Never saw a warning in factory manuals to do so either.

You can also jumper the starter solenoid, with the ign off. That works on all models.
