Grounding Bolts - Tohatsu

In an effort to clean the grounds on my 60HP tohatsu, I have had two bolts break. Both are rusted so bad that I can not drill them out. have already ruined one of them, and I don't think that I am going to bother with the other unless I have to. My question is this, is it OK to ground these wires to the same bolt that grounds the negative battery cable? The items that need to be grounded include the two tilt/trim solenoids, the tilt/trim unit and the rectifier. By simply extending these wires I can ground them to this bolt. If necessary, I can extend them to the bolt that grounds the starter solenoid. Any comments?

It sounds like you are on the right track. You want to make sure that it is a good ground and the ground path is going to the battery/alternator. Don't forget there may be other components on your tohatsu that may rely on that ground. If it is grounding the same piece of metal only from a different bolt it will be fine.

Everything is now grounded to the same bolt and the engine appears to work fine. I cranked it and ran it for a few minutes with the muffs on. Still not put it in the water. Tilt and trim does not work yet. I am going to replace the switch and see if that does the trick.
