Kev-alaska,Way to go on the manual.
Just a guess, wires are a hookup to reduce galvanic reaction.

Ground Wire?

I have a 9.9 Yamaha kicker on my Bayrunner that I have a question about. (the manuals are on order Steelspike...)
95-96 T99ELRT
SN L410001

There are two bare wires running from section to section of my exhaust housing that appear to be ground wires. One is corroded in two. It is attached to a bolt on the upper housing and goes into the lower housing near the shaft. Why two, and am I correct in assuming them ground wires? Motor runs great, idles a bit high but I will take care of that this weekend in the water.

Kev_alaska

Re: Ground Wire?

If they are galvanic leads, they must be working. No down side to using some solder and reconnecting the attachment end until Yamaha gets a replacement for me....

thanks for the look...
