Ground Wire on EzLoader Trailer--Mystery

I'm baffled. My flat plug has five wires: two brown, one green, one pale yellow, and one white. The white is clearly the ground--but I can't find where it disappears to inside the trailer tongue. Only four wires emerge from the tongue and go to the lights at the rear of of the boat. Inside the harness covering I can see that the ground is wrapped in circles around the other four wires, but the harness disappears into the tongue and I have no idea what happens to that ground. Does EZLoader use the ball hitch as the ground and supply a ground only as a back up? Any help greatly appreciated. thx

Can’t see it.
Have you removed the actuator for a look?

I was going to remove the actuator, but I’d need to disconnect the hydraulic line and make a big mess. And the threading of that line is tricky. Do I need to?

No! Using the ball to supply a ground path only makes for flickering lights and depending on the type of bulbs, shorter bulb life.

How many pins in the plug? Only 4 with the double brown to feed running lights on both sides?

I always run the ground wire directly to each light. No issues that way.

did you measure the white wire ohms resistance with the frame... if it is connected properly (0 ohms) don'T worry where it goes....
